The Malham Iron Age Pipe

I was asked if I could repair and clean up an old cassette tape, recorded from an even older 78 record here's what I managed with full scratch, rumble, crackle and pop filters in Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
I was given a photocopy of a pamphlet about the pipe which I've photo'd and have included here. Also I visited the area on a Molehill expedition here http://teddytourteas.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/its-not-easy.html

Well this is a different post and my first YouTube upload
cheers all Danny

  1. That's a curious piece of information, Danny. The actual sound of an Iron Age flute recorded from an old 78 record made in the 1950s. I thought at first it was an Aoril fool but then I listened to the audio track and read through the pages. It's fascinating to think that the man or woman who made it heard the same notes probably more than 2,000 years ago – and that we know he held it between his teeth and used only one hand. Curious indeed.
    Cheers now, Alen McF

    1. Hi Alen, thanks for the comment I was begining to think that there was only myself (and the Bear) It's going to mean even more on the next Bivy somewhere up in the rocks with my fire, the only light to the horizon, and hear that tune in my head.
      cheers Danny
